Everything we know about Disney+
Watch out, Netflix! The world-famous streaming service will have a new competitor next year, and it’s not a new name in the industry. Disney is set to launch its new streaming service in late 2019, but this tentative schedule is for the U.S. only. The direct-to-consumer streaming service will be called Disney+, contrary to earlier speculations that it will be called Disney Play. American viewers will surely get to watch Disney + next year, but what about viewers from the other countries? The Walt Disney company hasn’t said anything about this yet.
A lot of fans are asking if we’ll be watching the same Disney movies through this platform. Fortunately, Disney is full of surprises for its viewers. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed that there will be a new Star Wars and Marvel live-action series to be developed. The Star Wars spinoff will feature Cassian Andor and his adventures before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, while the MCU series will center around Loki starring Tom Hiddleston. In addition to that, the classics and all-time favorite movies such as Monsters, Inc. and High School Musical will also include new stories. Oh, and did I mention that Captain Marvel will also be exclusively streamed on Disney+? All the more reason to watch Disney + next year!

How to get Disney + subscription
Unfortunately, those are the only details that we have on Disney+ so far. There are no further details on subscription plans yet. However, if you want to get updates on its progress, you can sign up on the Disney+ preview website. For now, we’ll sit tight and wait until Disney posts more about it, and tell you how to get Disney + library that’s similar to the U.S. if you’re from another country. I don’t know if you’re aware that Netflix libraries aren’t the same in every country (hint: the U.S. and Canada libraries are the bomb). In case it happens with Disney+ too, then you’ll know what to do.
If you’re a Netflix user, you might be familiar with a global account. It lets you connect to Netflix no matter where you are in the world as long as it’s not blocked in that country. However, you can only access the Netflix library from that country. So, if for example you live in the UK and you’re traveling to Spain, you can access your Netflix account there and watch movies. But you’ll be presented with Spanish movies and TV shows because that’s where you’re accessing it from.
Now, we don’t know for sure if Disney+ will also have a global account option for its future subscribers, but it’s possible. However, there’s also a huge possibility that the situation will be the same as I described above. So, what’s the best solution on how to watch Disney + if you’re not a U.S. resident? The answer lies within three powerful letters: VPN. I’m telling you, it’s way better than getting a global account, plus it has plenty of other benefits too. We’ll discuss each one later.
Unblock Disney + with a VPN
Each country has varying licenses and rights for movies, TV shows, and documentaries which is why libraries have different content. Popular streaming services (and possibly Disney+) use geo-restrictions to limit what you can access based on the country you’re located. They trace your IP address to know your location, and if your country’s IP addresses are blacklisted, then there will be no Disney+ for you to watch.
With a VPN, you can unblock Disney + and watch it wherever you are. Yup, even if you don’t have a U.S. IP address! It works by assigning you a new IP address and spoofing your location. All you have to do is log in to your VPN account, connect to a U.S. server, and it’s done! You’ll appear as if you’re accessing it from America. You can be one of the first to try out the streaming service next year and watch Disney movies like a true American local.
Why you need a VPN to watch Disney+
Privacy and security. How would you feel if your online activities are being monitored, from the movies you watch down to the things you search for in your browser? Mass surveillance, hacking, and spying are serious issues that should not be taken lightly. Protect your right to privacy and take extra security measures by getting a VPN. We might not know how to get Disney + as of today yet, but I can tell you how to watch Disney + (and other streaming services) without worrying about an invasion of privacy.
A VPN works by creating an encrypted virtual tunnel between your device and the internet, so your internet traffic passing through the tunnel is safe from prying eyes. VPNs and antivirus tools both protect you from malicious software, but a VPN hides your data while an antivirus tool prevents malware from attacking your device. It’s a cheap but efficient way of keeping out hackers and surveillance agencies.
Online anonymity. You probably know that your internet service provider (ISP) is able to see all of your online activities. They can even intentionally slow down your internet speed if they see that you’re using up too much data, like streaming and downloading. If you want to know how to watch Disney + anonymously, get a VPN. As I explained earlier, a VPN hides your IP address so absolutely no one else can see your online activities. It provides you with online anonymity because your ISP won’t be able to see what websites you’re visiting or what you’re doing.
Free VPN: what’s the risk?
So you don’t want to shell out extra cash for a VPN subscription, and the free VPN services have caught your interest. I know what you’re thinking: I’ll just endure the annoying ads if it means I’ll get a VPN for free. But I’m telling you, don’t be blinded by the word ‘free’ because it could do more harm than good. Aside from the annoying advertisements that free VPNs use to earn money, it’s not 100% reliable. They could sell your data to the highest bidder because you’re not paying them to keep you safe.
If you want to know how to watch Disney + safely and how to unblock Disney + in geo-restricted countries, then get a VPN. A monthly subscription is a small amount to pay compared to what you’ll lose if you use free VPNs.
